Caalista

Caalista was born in the shadow of Montmartre, Paris, in the gray of winter, but it is the blue sky of Greece that pulses through her veins.

Self-taught, her creations are made of shadow and light, clay and gold. Born from her passion for life, Caalista’s pieces reflect her aches, her joys, her rebellions, and her doubts. In her creations she evokes humanity, solitude, the complexity of society or the absence of a father, even the simple beauty of the ocean. She likes to juggle materials and pigments.

Caalista turns them, rattles them, gives them each new faith and purpose. Like her paintings, Caalista navigates between two worlds. Her universe revolves around Soulages, Pollack, Richter, Dali, Klimt but also Bashung, Gainsbourg, Bowie, Arcade Fire, Melody Gardot…
