Since my early teens, I had been inspired by impressionist and then realist painting, which I had learned from painters who were often well-known when they gave me advice in Paris. Then I was deeply attracted by the artistic approach of a Japanese painter who, like me, exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1988, and I adapted it to my own personal vision.
Vertical and horizontal shelving highlighted the subject, accentuating the relationship between light and shadow. So I used this method, whatever the painting technique, with or without collages of natural elements.
It seemed to me that this approach, which was sometimes disturbing, particularly with glazes in oil paint, offered a different view of the subject, particularly when it was in movement, and therefore reflected Life.
