Biography
Nicolas Badout, alias nkl, was born in 1992 in Lyon.
Trained in applied arts at La Martinière Diderot (Lyon), and attended the School of Architecture in Montpellier, Nicolas Badout has several strings to his bow since he is an illustrator, painter and muralist all at the same time.
An avowed admirer of Charles Burns, American comic book author, he develops a graphic universe in chiaroscuro, on the border between real and imaginary, and finds his inspiration in literature as well as in the news of a world in perpetual motion. He deploys on our universe a look sometimes acid, but amused, sometimes contemplative and observant.
Nicolas Badout shapes his works with a brush, his preferred technique, in Indian ink, acrylic, on walls, paper or even on a graphic tablet.
