Born in 1955, Futura 2000 is an American artist. He lives and works in New York.
Futura 2000 made history in American graffiti in the 80's. He suggests an alternative to the classic letter work, through the creation of abstract work. He is also one of the first artists to begin working in a workshop, however he didn't give up street-art.
Futura 2000 is a member of the United Graffiti Artists and has a genuine interest in the evolution of Hip Hop music. In 1981, he participated in the music tour of "The Clash" band, during which he created new works. Lately, he has been collaborating on the Lasco project, whose main aim is to create a dialogue between well-known street artists and a new generation of artists, who wish to make street-art a part of history of arts.
Today, his work is displayed in galleries and international institutions just like Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Rammellzee, Dondi White, not to mention Kenny Scharf.
