Biography
Serge Benoit is born in Mans on the 30th November 1937. After drawing and modeling classes with life sculptures, he learned sculpture as a self-taught artist.
He settled in Canada from 1966 until 1968 and realized his first sculptures, in gigantic formats. He realized figurative sculptures until he met César Domela in 1974, and then turned towards constructivism.
Initially he was influenced by Rodin and Brancusi's figurative style but his sculptures during the 70's were more like abstraction. His research turned towards the relationship between man and machine and man and the modern society.
He participated in several fairs in Paris and his work has been exhibited in Grand Palais in Paris or Palais des Papes in Avignon.
