Biography
The career of this artist is quite atypical since it begins in a business school. For ten years, Nathalie ROUX will work in the field of finance and real estate. However, photography had always haunted her since at the age of 20 our budding artist had bought his first film reflex camera. For years, Nathalie ROUX will try her hand at this art, reading a lot, experimenting with the possibilities of film photography. All this period was a long maturation until a simple toy fell by chance into her hands… When a friend hands her a Buzz Lightyear figurine, Nathalie ROUX does not yet know that she is holding a real one. subject, which open up to her formidable possibilities of expression. She wonders first of all what a young thirty-something can do with a toy, she who is past the age of playing. Yes, but is there an age for telling stories? As in childhood, Nathalie ROUX will then imagine staging with her toys. But the stories of adults are not that of the little girl she was, and at thirty, Barbie is a celibate who drinks and hijacks her kitchen utensils to make a jacuzzi. Who will believe that Buzz Lightyear can save the planet, powerless for him to put out a barbecue fire. Nathalie ROUX's photographs therefore showcase our disenchantments as adults, our dreams shattered on the pitfall of reality. They speak of the nostalgia that pervades our time, when the regressive adult has become the reference figure in society. Even the heroes of the past have failed to establish themselves in today's society. The mannequin doll is consumed by bulimia and alcoholism while the masculine force is embarrassed to meet the violence of the modern world, a soldier incapable of saving his fellows.
