Rafael Illana
Biography
Illana, an artist trained in Barcelona and Paris, although heavily self-taught, reduces the forms in his paintings to essential elements, so he has been described as "constructivist". The themes that inspire his work are the female nude, the dead natures and the figures of the ancient aristocracy.
His works have been exhibited in several Spanish cities, and in France, Portugal and Argentina, among other countries. Illana has received throughout her career awards such as the Honorable Mention of the Sixth Annual Jury Award Art Exhibit, the French Ministry of Culture's Research Award, the first Painting Prize in Maillol Painting, and other hand-held awards The Internationales Kultur und Austauschzentrum and the City Painting Biennial of Terrassa (Vallès Occidental).
