Biography
"The art of transference" Wouter Berns was born in 1970 in the Netherlands. He lives and works in his workshop in the Netherlands as well as in France in a workshop in a small village in the Ardennes. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kampen in 1991, The artist inspired by the technique and artists of the golden century of painting, he is also influenced by Utrillo, Bosch, Dali, Hopper and of course Magritte and the surrealists. Different influences or the artist and his sources of inspiration. His exceptional technique allows him to offer figurative paintings where essential societal questions are treated with a light and offbeat humor. The Kampen Stedeljik Museum organized a first retrospective for him in 2004. The curator René Van Mierlo declared on this subject "Berns is a contemporary artist with the technical method of the old Masters" His wife and muse is represented in many of his compositions, he even in the manner of Rockwell is represented with humor and irony in several of his compositions. Artist present in many international galleries in Latvia, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, he is represented in France by the STACKLR Gallery.
