Le Maghien

Didier Maghe is a Begian artist born in Charleroi. He studied drawing and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Binche, and then joined the Academy of Fine Arts of Charleroi where he specialized in doing nudes. He currently lives and works in Belgium.

Didier Maghe is known for his Maghiens, his naked characters with big bellies and tucked up noses. It was in 1999 that the artist discovered these funny characters that made him soon forget all his other expressionist creations. With his Maghiens, he softened his trait, used clearer colors and more rounded curves.
Didier Maghe seeks to transmit a feeling of happiness to the viewer, conveyed through the gentle nature of his clay, bronze and polyester sculptures.
The artist does not limit himself to the fields of painting and sculpture. Accompanied by his Maghiens, he also explores illustration and writing. He uses a simple language, like a child but with highly philosophical references.

A renowned artist, he is regulaly invited to participate in radio shows.
