Paulina Halasova

MA Paulina Halasova belongs to a strong generation of young Slovak painters (she studied painting at University of Fine Arts in Bratislava, in 2016 she attended the painting department at Academy of Fine Arts in Prague).

She has had numerous exhibitions in state galleries. Her paintings and sculpture are in the collection of Spiš Gallery of Artists. The paintings made it to the Painting of the Year competition and the Portrait Triennial.

Her artworks are made using oil and acrylic on canvas. Later, she expanded the spectrum of her work to include drawings, objects and installations.

In terms of content, it focuses on the psychological experience of an individual on the canvas, which it decodes for the viewer with visual elements. She softens the emotionally charged content with self-irony. Thus, Halasová brings an honest conversation with the recipient of the work.
