Presentation

Serge Rezvani is at the confluence of several cultures. Through his mother, he is Russian and Jewish, through his father, he is Iranian, through education, he oscillates between white Russian emigrant culture and demanding French culture.

After the Second World War, Serge Rezvani turned to abstract painting. He delivers a work where the sadness of abandonment, the despair of exile and the memory of the Shoah combine. During this period of intense pictorial creativity, his haunted and desperate paintings earned him greater and greater recognition.

In 1967, the painter abandoned his brushes to turn to writing and dramaturgy. When he started painting again, he adopted a more figurative way, most often combined with his literary works (Canvases for Vietnam, Beaches, Repentances, etc.).

The vast majority of his works are in Cuba, at the Havana Museum.
