Biography
Gregg Simpson's vibrant abstract paintings dazzle the viewer with the textures, colours, shapes, and shadows of the natural world, particularly the rain forests and seascapes near Simpson's home on Canada's west coast.
Heavily influenced by both surrealism and lyric abstraction, Simpson's career spans five decades beginning with his significant participation in the golden age of multi-media in Vancouver in the 1960's.
His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide and documented in numerous catalogues, academic studies, and books including Surrealism Beyond Borders, a book and exhibition organized by the Metropolitan Museum of New York and the Tate Modern, London. His BRAVO television documentary, A New Arcadia, The Art of Gregg Simpson is available on YouTube.
