The portraits of Daniel Derderian are singular cries for love. They seeks to highlight the tension between strength and fragility.
The artist works in a hurry, torn between the unlimited fantasies of a wild child and the moral compass of a socially integrated adult. He twists and shapes his imagination between reason, emotions and impulses.
After a career as a dancer at the Ballet National de Marseille Roland Petit, the Het Nationaal Ballet in Amsterdam and the Ballet du Nord, he moved to Paris and worked as a dancer and actor in the world of entertainment.
At the same time, he began his work as a visual artist on his own.
His first works were collages based on X-rays – clinical material that shows the inside of a body objectively.
The portraits are images of his mental constructions and deconstructions; dance expressions in the head.
