Biography
For three decades, I have taken my images from the streets and photographed the people who pass through them. Under the influence of humanist photographers of the last century, I tried to freeze, on my black and white films, a tiny portion of the lives of the people I met, moments that were both banal and unique. The book “Inconnus Familiers / Familiar Unknowns (Snap Collective Publishing / London) is in a way the culmination of this approach, bringing together snapshots of strangers taken from life.
With the project “Under my feet”, ignoring the passers-by, I turned my gaze to the ground, scrutinizing these lines which guide us, protect us, constrain us, prohibit us. Like an artist who collects shells to make a necklace, I took my photographic material. I needed to get rid of reality and free myself from black & white. No longer to interpret reality but to truly create an offbeat image, both confused and marvelous, aesthetic and enigmatic. Dreamlike, transforming grayness into stained glass, scrap metal into enamel.
