Biography
Born on February 6, 1988 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Roland Serge GNAKABI left the shores of the Ebrié lagoon at the age of 5 and flew towards an extraordinary destiny.
He spent most of his childhood in Katiola under the parental responsibility of his uncle Gnohité Bertin, who was at the time an English teacher at the Katiola Modern High School. A model student, Roland Serge GNAKABI has always been very involved in everything he undertook. Known to be a hard worker and always in search of perfection, he remained a less shy and introverted child who only revealed his strong personality on various mediums, which foreshadowed his future as a plastic artist.
Thus, his professional career began at the Regional Conservatory of Arts and Crafts of Abengourou at the age of sixteen, after having been an amateur plastic artist for many years. This is what makes the artist's atypical profile so unique, as he never went through the famous training centers. He trained himself and redoubled his efforts to make himself known. After the CRAMA where he was trained in graphic communication from 2005 to 2008, it was in Bingerville that the plastic artist was revealed.
In 2012, after obtaining his diploma in object design at the Technical Center of Applied Arts in Bingerville, several pictorial works such as "beauty, equality, carefree" and many others would bear his signature.
Passionate about painting, he is a member of the MANONKH'ART FOUNDATION, which works for the promotion and valorization of plastic arts and with which he has participated in collective exhibitions in Abidjan and Paris.
Roland Serge GNAKABI is not just a painter. He is also an object designer, graphic designer, and illustrator.
In parallel with painting, Roland Serge GNAKABI has also collaborated on 2D animation film productions such as NUBU YARA SEASON 1 and 2, BOUYOU, etc. as an illustrator, storyboard artist, and animator.
