Presentation
Born in Madrid, in 1937, he leaves Franco?s Spain and moves to Paris in 1958.
His work has some militant and violently critical stages, but also some funny or more tender stages.
Themes such as the role of the painter in society and the situation of the exiled intellectual generated some narratively rich artworks of his.
Spain?s return to democracy made him leave aside the revolutionary and accusatory side of his paintings and brought about an evolution in his questioning of the role of painting.
He rediscovers Spain, falls in love with the country again and becomes sensitive to the Spanish clichés; in Madrid-Paris-Madrid, the cities that marked his life, he represents a decor of an arena in red and yellow.
