Biography
Born in 1985, Oscar Maslard, aka Sckaro picked up graffiti and skateboarding in the 2000s. He started working in studio in the 2010s, alongside his brother Ratur, two years older than him. Both began their career in the United States in 2014 (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vegas, Denver) before coming back to Europe as internationally-renowned French artists.
The two brothers have come up with a complex creative process based on deconstructed compositions. In the works featured in this show, Sckaro presents fragments of his daily life revolving around sneakers and spray cans as symbolic and realistic elements. Sckaro develops a complex body of paintings in the form of deconstructed compositions representing bodies and objects flipped upside down, losing all space-time references.
Coming from a double background of graffiti and graphic design, the artist adopts a contemporary and disinhibited approach of painting, yet marked by great technical mastery. In the same way he installs an interesting tension between classically oil-made paintings and digitally-conceived compositions, he also opens a fascinating dialogue between hyperrealistic details and disruptive graphic elements.
