Biography
He was born in Crivillén (Teruel) in 1908. After training at the San Jorge School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, he emigrated to America. He settles down in Montevideo and is part of the group "Paul Cézanne" which wants to break the established rules. In 1955, after receiving the Grand Prize at the Montevideo Biennale, he returned to Spain. With other artists of this time, such as Antonio Saura or Rafael Canogar, in 1957 he founded the group “El Paso”. During this period he produced large-scale busts and portraits, notably those of Unamuno, Galdós and Marañón. In 1967 he presented his “Hombre con puertas”, exhibited in New York and Toronto. In the 1980s, the awards followed. He died in 1985, bequeathing more than 400 works to Zaragoza.
