Fred Mouton
Biography
His artistic expression finds its roots in a tragic event. Fred Mouton naturally turned to the Fine Arts to nourish his need for creation. While studying, he became fascinated by the process of revealing photographic images in a darkroom. Initially, his art developed through collages, mixing photographic materials, etching plates and artificial light effects.
Today, like his grandfather before, he has opted for painting as a means of exploring images.
Just like his collages, his paintings find their source in often anonymous photographs dating from the past. These fragments of reality simply serve as a starting point, leaving ample room for interpretation. Then, everything is built around this first element, according to the brush: one shape gives rise to another, one color succeeds the previous one.
