French contemporary artist Joris Ghilini was born in 1978 in Marseille. Self-taught, he paints, sculpts and draws. He grew up in a family fascinated by the arts, including a father who was a theatre director and concert organizer.
He found his voice and identity in the great currents of art history such as the new realists as well as in the subcultures of graffiti, heavy metal and skateboarding.
In 1996, he graduated in intellectual property and new technology law in the Faculty of Aix en Provence. He stopped his activity as an intellectual property advisor in 2009 in order to pursue applied research on the notion of iconography and its endangerments.
Fond of science fiction and questions related to our environmental future, Joris Ghilini established himself as a kind of underground jack-of-all-trades, through post-apocalyptic imagery but also through his sculptures from which a raw energy emerges.
The themes he deals with reflect a wide variety of contemporary questions that have led him to exhibit all over the world.
