Joyce Pensato (American, born 1941 in Brooklyn) is a contemporary painter, known for her large cartoon canvases painted on black and white enamels. Her father, an engraver, encouraged her to pursue artistic studies. She studied at the New York Studio School, where she developed an interest in elements related to pop culture, starting with Batman. This serves as a catalyst for her splashed canvas project depicting well-known characters and mascots, like Homer Simpson, Donald Duck, and Mickey Mouse.
