Topolino was born in Sète, in 1967 and since then, he has been “drawing, painting, drawing like a drawing machine", as he says himself... His real name is Marc Combas (and he is Robert Combas's younger brother). Sète is a city where people say there is an artist at every corner... He is by nature a discreet artist, and says of himself that he does nothing to be noticed.
He fills notebooks with drawings taken from daily news and events, on the spot. When he travels abroad, he loves to sketch cities. He hasn't had a formal artistic education, but he says he cannot imagine himself without drawing. He draws and paints like a self-taught artist, who learns laboriously.
There are mistakes in his paintings and drawings, but he says this is where style comes from... He draws, and paints by ear like bluesmen... For his drawings he uses felt pens and lately watercolor, and, for a more raw effect, acrylic.
