O'kiins HOWARA is Ivorian, he was born in 1995. Through his works, O'Kiins invites us on a journey, an exploration of Africa both in time and in colors. By borrowing everyday elements and other more traditional ones, he portrays an Africa far from the clichés of history and the fear of the future. He presents it as it is: a continent full of nuances and subtlety. Spirituality, tradition and modernity mingle in O'kiins' photographs. They question, leave room for the imagination with a striking pictorial palette.
“I want to sublimate African beauty through bodies and color but I also refer to tradition. The more you know where you come from, the more you know the past, the better you can move forward. My photographs use cowries, symbols of wealth and spirituality, to dress my models, others are more enigmatic".
