BIOGRAPHY
I was born in Alexandria, Egypt.
My interest in painting developed in college. In medical school, I enrolled myself in an independent fine art study program at the University of Alexandria Atelier.
As a student, I participated in a number of University group shows and won several collegiate awards.
In 1973, I had my first show at the University Physician club. My second show was at the Centre Culturel Francais in Alexandria in 1975.
I immigrated to California in 1981, where I currently reside and practice Psychiatry in the San Francisco Bay area.
I continued to paint, but did not start showing again till 1996.
Although I maintain a full time medical practice, I continue to produce about 25-35 Medium and large size paintings per year.
Over the years, I have participated in a number of group shows as well as a few Solo shows, primarily in California.
The Subjects of my paintings are varied. My style has evolved over the last 40 years. It reflects Egyptian, Middle Eastern and South Mediterranean influences.
Many of the paintings depict human figures. The characters are captives of time, instincts, fears and the reasons of their existence.
