Tali Randall is a Franco-English artist who lives in the Paris region. Very inspired by 19th century literature, but also by cautionary tales or fables, Randall paints what she cannot write but which amuses her. Entering his drawings in black ink or his oils in muted hues is to confront a singular vision of our human conditions, a theater of characters, men and women, ageless and without harshness. Classically dressed, suits for the men, skirts for the women, they are there, looking inward, a little heavy, almost apathetic. Such as this woman bending under an enormous head of an elephant whose trunk is chained by itself to a tree trunk. Others, decked out in the heads of frogs, sitting thoughtfully on a rat or chased by giant crows, appear helpless, prey to doubt, uncertainty, astonishment, even amazement. Blindfolded tightrope walkers, they walk towards the abyss but seem to get used to it. It is this bodily sensation that Randall transmits to us. Exploring emotions such as ambivalence, regrets, guilt... Looking at his paintings, we don't know what will win out, smile or dread.
