Nikolay Dobrev
Biography
Nikolay Dobrev was born on 23 September 1948 in Sofia. He graduated at Veliko Tarnovo University "St. Cyril and St . Methodius" in 1974. For many years he has been teaching Painting at Secondary School "Todor Kirkov" in his hometown. He has 14 solo exhibitions in many cities in the country - Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Lovech, Pleven and others. Nikolay Dobrev is a winner of awards from the International Biennial of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo (1999), from the National Exhibition of Artists-Pedagogues in Veliko Tarnovo (2004), from the National Biennale of Small Forms in Pleven (2006) and others.
His works are in the collections of the National Art Gallery and City Art Galleries in Pleven, Balchik, Blagoevgrad, Lovech, Malko Tarnovo, as well as private collections in Bulgaria and in Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Japan, USA, Canada, Russia, the Czech Republic, etc.
Nikolay Dobrev paints beautiful, gentle, blue and white seascapes. He is passionately in love with the sea, especially in Balchik and Sozopol, which he visits and draws almost every summer. That is why many paintings in his exhibition are dedicated to these magical Black Sea towns. He lives and works in Lovech.
