Biography
Antonella Montes, better known as Lantomo, is an artist of Italian origin educated as an architect. She studied at the University of Rome, although she currently lives in Barcelona while studying the Master of Stage Design and Exhibition Design.
After a long stay in China that greatly influenced the development of her technique, she decided to surrender to her passion. The drawing is her tool of expression, direct and decipherable. In her portraits, in black and white with a clear Asian influence, there is a series of nuances, reinforced by the touches of red. Her use of black makes it possible to open a dialogue between the artwork and its viewer through the transmission of a large number of emotions.
She describes her graphite portraits as suspended in a universe between reality and dream. She doesn't focus on details but mostly on the representation of her subjects' empotions: isolation, introspection, silence. Memory, fears and loneliness in this society are feelings that worry and inspire her. Through her drawings, Lantomo also tries to reflect two very contrasted cultures, the "Asian culture" and the "Western culture". Each one inspiring her in different ways.
She has participated in various collective and individual exhibitions in cities such as Beijing and Barcelona. The artist is represented by the Gallery Bat Alberto Cornejo in Madrid, 3 Punts Gallery in Barcelona,Spain, and Retrospect Galleries in Byron Bay, Australia.
