Veronica Taussig was born in Romania in 1948, but has lived in Vienna since childhood and is artistically active here. Professionally she was engaged in interior design.
Although she was interested in art all her life, moved in her environment and collected works of contemporary artists, she began to work as an artist only in a later phase of her life.
Immediate inspiration for her became contact with the late work of Matisse. Currently, she devotes every free moment to her own projects. The exhibition in Azur Gallery in Berlin is the eighth exhibition of the artist after exhibitions in Prague, Berlin, Lodz, Saint Petersburg, Warsaw and Vienna.
The geometric shapes of her sculptures seem to be part of architecture. Veronica draws her inspiration from the abstract works of early Constructivists. The artist combines the aesthetic form of her sculptures with their function in space.
She analyzes the tension between the colorful forms and their interplay with the design of gardens or interiors. Through identically shaped colorful surfaces, the artist affects the senses of the viewer in an outrageously interesting way. The forms cross or overlap each other, appear abruptly and disappear again into space.
