Versants
Biography
Versants is a collective of 3 artists who work together to offer drawings, engraving, screen printing and fresco projects on an interior and exterior wall.
“Tangui Robert, Jérôme Maillet and Gaëtan Chevrier
came together to create together around a space built and shaped by man: the quarry.
Since their meeting, they have explored different places of extraction. As many ways, materials, landscapes, tools as there are ways of taming these spaces and these minerals. A copper quarry or a marble quarry does not form the same contours, does not add the same human imprints.
These three artists have found a common direction: extract as much material as possible to think about, transform, superimpose, engrave, colorize, exchange, copy, draw, photograph, sculpt.
By agreeing to allow their production to be retouched by another of the artists of the trio, the works are also distorted, cut, reframed, sometimes taken out of their context. Some works are signed with three hands, others in duet or more traditionally are personal productions.
The attraction of emptiness in the accumulation of textures and volumes gives rise to relevant equations, parallel spaces.
_The extraction of gray matter on paper questions the extraction of organic matter from its soil. "
