Cyril Raymond, multidisciplinary artist with protean creations.
Favorite subjects: humanism, transhumanism, ecology, freedom of expression, news, beliefs, memory (altered memories), borders...
Born in 1972 into an artistic family, he first studied classical piano at the national conservatory of the Lyon region then chose to move towards graphic arts by joining a school of advertising illustration.
For more than 20 years, he evolved between creation in communication and performing arts, producing multimedia supports, films or space design.
Since 2013, he has been doing residencies or artistic collaborations such as at the Vasarely foundation (Aix-en Provence) where he imagines with Vincent Mignerot (specialist in synesthesia), a man/machine interface allowing to see sounds or to hear images and interact with each other.
He is also invited alongside Erik Truffaz and Ervin Aarset on the “BROKEN” project or by the “Possible (s) 4tet” ensemble as a video scenographer. He also collaborates alongside the illustrator Benjamin Flao on the show "ATLANTIDE" composed by Guillaume Perret (Sax) show created especially
for the Ile de France Jazz Festival.
He participates in many hackathons, including MUSEOMIX Arles where he designs an immersive scenographic device that puts the visitor to the departmental museum of ancient Arles in the shoes of a resident victim of the 2003 floods.
In 2015, he founded with 2 creative coders and a designer, the collective: "nøclic.nøscreen_", together they will create several experiential installations integrating: led technology, video mapping, on-board electronics, mechanics and furniture design.
The “Lueur d'espoir” installation will allow interaction with nearly a thousand visitors over 3 days, during the Lyon Festival of Lights. Convinced by these works, the diocese of Lyon commissioned him to create and produce a monumental plastic and light work (7m high) representing the "Porte de la
mercy” of the Saint-Bonaventure Sanctuary (69).
Other installations will be ordered from them, taking them to Vienna in Austria.
Since 2018, Cyril RAYMOND has devoted himself to the production of artistic works using mixed techniques (acrylic, collage, Indian ink, various materials, etc.) sometimes augmented virtually.
Since video is never very far away, his audiovisual works remain in an abstract universe or inspired by generative design, always conditioned to a singular sound universe.
And even when he approaches a more figurative aesthetic, his production process is based on an instinctive approach excluding the real referent to rely on feelings, as in his series: "imaginary portraits" come out of emotional selfies.
