Through the language of wefts, I seek to unravel the complexities of the human experience, inviting viewers to engage with their own emotions, thoughts, and connections.
Paulo was born in 1984 in São Paulo, Brazil and currently lives and works in London, UK.
The artist makes use of mixed media, being recognized by his fluid, vibrant and contemporary art.
He is strongly influenced by Abstract Expressionism and the Color Field movement, with artistic experiments in photography, sculpture and design objects.
Gnecco creates and exhibits his artworks since 2020.
Working collaboratively, by commission or independently, Paulo is focused on critically approaching political and social issues.
His works are highly regarded for their emotional narrative through the use of stimulating elements, intriguing colors and imagery.
After 15 years working as a biomedical - his formal degree - Paulo decided to make his passion for art his profession. Fast forward to now, the artist works full time in his studio in Holland Park, London.
Exhibiting his work and his creative processes shows that his art isn't just about the final creation - it is about the struggle that came before and the story it tells today.
"My art critically examines societal, political, and cultural matters, while embracing emotional expression through colors and gestures. Referencing Brazilian culture, I explore the dynamic relationship between popular culture and visual arts.
Each project's subject shapes materials and forms, leading to diverse works in various media centered around specific themes. In my artistic journey, I find solace and inspiration in the intricate and profound world of wefts. I strive to unravel the hidden layers of meaning that they hold, delving into the realms of state of minds, ruptures, social tissue and emotions.
Wefts, to me, are not merely threads woven together; they are the embodiment of our collective human experiences. Each carefully crafted line represents a complex tapestry of emotions, thoughts, and stories waiting to be told. By capturing the essence of wefts on canvas, I aim to bring forth a deeper understanding of the human condition.
In essence, my artistic practice is a journey of exploration and introspection. Through the language of wefts, I seek to unravel the complexities of the human experience, inviting viewers to engage with their own emotions, thoughts, and connections. My hope is that my artworks serve as a catalyst for reflection,
empathy, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world
around us."
