Feminine forest spirits, Norse goddesses and Viking warriors have a central place in my artistic explorations.
Biography
Originally from Sweden and now living in the Hudson Valley, New York, USA, Helena Palazzi began practicing photography as a teenager. In 1993, her path took her to her father's native country, Italy. With other young photographers, she founded a studio and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, Umbria. Two years later, she presented her first exhibition. Many others would follow over the years, showcasing his photographs as well as his mixed media work.
She landed in New York in 1998, where her attractive and polished photos got her noticed. She began working with some of the world's most renowned clients and designers in fashion and beauty. Since 2019, Helena Palazzi has called Kingston, New York home. There she found the time and freedom she needed to reconnect with her artistic work.
For her series “Maidens in Mystic Lands," she found inspiration in the heroic tales of Viking warriors and the stories of Norse mythology and folklore that she heard as a child. As she says, “What fascinates me the most are the women and goddesses of Norse mythology. They are fierce, they are strong, they are full of ardor and fire. They are decidedly sexual. They talk to me.
