Born in 1976 in Tehran, Hossein Borojeni, Franco-Iranian illustrator, is from a family of artists. Alongside his parents, painters and sculptors and teachers at the Beaux-Arts, he often had workshops and other drawing lessons as a playground before even knowing school. Arrived in Paris at the age of 14, he studied design and later worked as a car stylist and graphic designer. Until the day when a drawing by Aurore De La Morinerie, on a map of Printemps stores, made a strong impression on him and oriented him towards fashion illustration.
Today, recently installed in Nice, he designs for the biggest brands and luxury houses, such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Givenchy, Van Cleef & Arpel, Patek Philippe, Fred, Vacheron Constantin, Dior, Lancôme, Sonia Rykiel , Ferragamo, Cartier, Chaumet… Her illustrations are also regularly published in the specialized press: Elle, L'Express, WWD, Faust, Schön !, Cosmopolitan…
Hossein Borojeni creates in ink and wash. His style combines the lyricism of spontaneous sketching with a certain minimalism stemming from his design influences. A follower of “Less is more", he applies this approach to his drawings by purifying his features, leaving the white of the paper in the place of virtuoso. His technique is sometimes combined with a more digital palette. His drawings tend towards abstraction, quest is rather the essence of what he wishes to represent Another constant in his work, the preponderance of the female figure.
"It's hard to believe that Hossein Borojeni is not French as his work perfectly embodies the idea we have of French elegance. No wonder the biggest names in fashion or perfumery appealed to his talent! Inks and washes give his portraits a timeless presence. Women, their attitudes, their movements inspire him and the vision he transmits to us through his works manages to capture the light, as much as a photograph. With an incredible economy of means and sometimes no pencil line, he sets up a backdrop, creates a scenario, sets up an atmosphere. Put together, his illustrations constitute practically a storyboard. One would almost want his characters to take life…"
