Benjamin Déguénon is a visual artist born in 1982. Originally from Mono in Benin, he was born in the former capital Abomey and now resides in Cotonou. He perfected his skills with Dominique Zinkpé, and expresses himself through drawing, installation and sculpture.
Déguénon works with abandoned objects collected in town: old sheet metal, debris of colored enamels, copper wires, tin cans, iron wires or pieces of loincloth. His work revolves around the complexity of living between tradition and consumer society.
Déguénon has participated in numerous collective and personal exhibitions in Benin, Senegal, Togo and France. His works can be found in several international collections and publications on Beninese art.
