Thomas Kaminsky

Thomas Kaminsky is a visual artist from Germany with a background in design-related industries. Photography has been his passion since childhood—initially as a hobby. His former profession took him across all continents for many years. People and cultures shaped his open and curious outlook on the world. He has worked with design agencies in places such as New York, London, Singapore, and Sydney on developing interior concepts for commercial airplanes, airport lounges, and hotels.  

"My intention is to challenge viewers with my “blurred" photographs – I like them to open their mind, embrace a new perception of photographic art. My images are a call to perceive and follow your own intuition. Undeterred. Powerful. Self-determined. This can be difficult because we are inundated with external stimuli, and we often can't hear our inner voice amidst all the noise. Through my art, I inspire others to courageously forge their own path. To listen to their own voice. Initially, perhaps tentatively, but increasingly with more freedom and expansive steps.

I do this myself by working in the space between photography and painting. The camera is "my brush": With light, time, and movement, I "paint" my photographic art. I use the camera in an intentionally unconventional way: Instead of aiming for stillness, I move my Canon deliberately during exposure, breathing life into my images. I consciously expand the "rules of photography" and create unique and surprising impressions from lines, shapes, textures, colors, and light."
