Biography
Jessica Snow is an American abstract artist born in 1964. Today she lives and works in San Francisco.
Her paintings and drawings distinguish themselves by their geometrical, playful and colored forms.
Jessica graduated from the Art Studio of University of California in 1988, and obtained a Master of Fine Arts at Mills College in Oakland in 1996. Jessica Snow also studied at La Sorbonne in Paris and at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
Today, Jessica Snow teaches herself painting, drawing, and history of art at the University of San Francisco.
As a multi-disciplinary artist, Jessica Snow uses different mediums: She works on paper as much as on walls, with acrylic or oil painting, on canvas or linen. Each of her artworks is the result of a long preparatory study, with a pencil or a thin pen.
Her work is influenced by artists as Sophie Taueber-Arp, Sol Lewitt, Ellsworth Kelly, or even Henri Matisse, which has always been her favorite artist.
Jessica Snow always try to create artworks that seem instinctive and realized without efforts, whereas her preparatory studies show all the opposite.
