Buyong Hwang
Biography
Buyong Hwang is a contemporary painter with a background of growth as a graphic designer. He ended his 33-year career as a graphic designer in 2009 and jumped into the path of a full-time painter and announced about 700 oil and watercolor works on his website over the past 13 years. Since 2018, he has been receiving favorable reviews for his participation in overseas art fairs and hosting overseas individual exhibitions in Paris, Venice, Milan, Istanbul, and Ankara. His works dig into subconsciousness through surreal stimuli. Each silhouette features a recognizable form like a bird and a leaf, but it evokes a subtle sensory impulse by asking the viewer to look deeper inside and find something new. So far, he has held five individual exhibitions on the theme of resurrection. His works influence human subconsciousness by giving unconscious and perceptual stimuli that are not easily recognizable. As the creator of healing graphism, his silhouette technique is very unique. The images are symbolic, but they are simple and clear like symbols and trademarks. The action painting technique used as the background reminds us of a visual effect such as a beautiful constellation in the night sky.
