“I seek the infinite and the transcendent by contemplation and apprehension of the language of matter. "
- Simon Raffy
Neither figurative nor abstract, the approach of the doctor in physico-chemistry Simon Raffy is primarily scientific. His fundamental research of the interaction with matter and his theoretical knowledge of physics push him to exploit properties, universal laws such as the refraction of color, chromatic ranges, waves or even acoustics.
In his work, the artist will develop the aesthetic aspect of the interaction of these physical events with matter. This aesthetic is the fruit of a scientific vision of the world but also of a sensitivity specific to the artist who sees in these phenomena an authentic reflection which goes beyond the rational framework of the discipline.
Indeed science in its art is only at the service of a greater finality.
Simon Raffy: “Astrophysics always tries to see further in time and space. Particle physics seeks to descend to the very foundation of matter ”.
The relationship of this discipline to immensity constitutes the artist's main source of inspiration. Light and matter united by specific laws create immersive and timeless visual effects that lead to a spiritual and sensitive dimension. It is in this approach specific to the artist that science joins art.
By unifying a rational world with a sensitive world, Simon Raffy creates an innovative and personal style in which his artistic line allows him to develop modern and new images. In the monochrome backgrounds a thousand colors and crystals with unreal effects mix, where the infinitely small meets the infinitely large.
