Biography
Max Book, born 1953, Swedish artist. In the 1980s, Max Book was part of the so-called Wallda group together with Eva Löfdahl, Stig Sjölund, Tomas Lidén and Ingvar Sjöberg. 1995-2000 Book worked as a professor at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm. Since 1996, he has been a member of the Royal Academy of Arts.
Max Book soon attracted a lot of attention when he entered the art scene in the 1980s and became one of the most celebrated painters of postmodern art in Sweden. In his painting, the fateful basic chord is disturbed by dissonances and inserted fragments. Reality interferes with the vision, the present finds itself in the middle of the past and civilization collides with nature. You could also say that we seem to dive straight into our conflicted subconscious where a complex contemporary shares space with universal archetypes.
