Born San Jose, California, USA, Carlos Sanchez multi-medium artist, currently based in the Philippines. His work is found in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, both North & South America, Europe and beyond, as well as award winning art installations in public places with commissioned pieces by various Government departments.
Starting in high school, working hard outside school hours, Sanchez's spare time was spent designing and customizing cars with new and innovative concepts. Thus the appreciation of functional art was discovered and expressed through many mediums.
After extensive traveling, his thirst to further express an artistic talent flourished. A mix of formal art courses lead to the exploration of multiple disciplines, including sculpture, creative woodworking, metal, glass and textile, often employing a combination of more than one of these elements, with a distinctive Latin American influence as a result of extensive travel and working in the region.
Moving to Australia in 1990, with a new son, Sanchez spent the next 23 years concentrating on functional art. He explored the creation of bespoke pieces for clients, with the understanding what each particular client had in mind, often surpassing the expected outcome. The 'in situ and functionality' of the art pieces, (amongst these - decorative lighting, furniture and doors) was always with unique artistic techniques, featuring innovational designs and many created just for a particular piece, and not seen before.
The Evolving Essence of Innovation is always a feature of Sanchez's work. He is currently immersed in brass pieces of purely abstract integral designs, and introducing a variety of new elements. He sees fresh evolution with an artistic eye applying the unconscious thought of 'outside the box', hence, enjoying the newest of this process, the 'Brass Sculptural Collection.'
