Biography
Valérie Parize alias Artize defines herself as "a painter of emotion and material". Color and light occupy a predominant place in his paintings. Freeing himself from pure representation, the artist refuses to copy reality or nature, but endeavors to suggest by touches more than to affirm in order to leave the freedom to those who look at their canvas to appropriate it.
Working with oil paint, the knife remains his tool of choice. It allows him to sculpt the material and play on the contrasts between sharpness and blur, abstraction and figuration, impasto and fluidity of the gesture. She does not hesitate to use paper or a comb to leave a trace, an imprint.
Multiple, his universes retrace scenes of life populated by back characters always walking towards their future. The artist also endeavors to revisit views of Paris or New York. Driven by great curiosity, Artize captures in her paintings, atmospheres and the zeitgeist, a memory of a feeling experienced or an invitation to the imagination.
