Inviting joy and inner serenity is the purpose of Achao's painting. It is through an arrangement of patterns, colors and transparency that his painting infuses inner peace and invites us to reinvent our vision of the world, to dive into our inner self to sketch new values.
As a self-taught artist, Achao's research involves the invention of his own tools, technique and creative protocols. He has also been an assiduous student of the evening classes of the Ateliers de l'ADAC and the Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris in sculpture and drawing for a decade.
His work is based on the study of European masters. In particular: the cut out papers of Henri Matisse, the flexible supports of Claude Viallat, the stimulation of the glance caused by the figures of Alberto Giacometti, the audacity of the arrangements of materials of the bases at Constantin Brancusi...
His artistic culture has been completed through regular trips to India over more than thirty years. More precisely, his gaze was fixed on the sculpture of Indian temples, and the study of the bas-relief adorning the Dhamek Stupa of Sarnath which became the axis around which his painting flourished.
His style, initially more expressionist, gradually moves towards Abstract Expressionism. His tendency to freeze emotions in order to better engrave the present moment brings his painting closer to Tribal Muralism by the treatment of non-figurative motifs, externalization of a hidden world in which everything moves, turns and winds up to finally reach a furtive harmony.
Achao lives and works in Auvergne (France) where he devotes himself to his artistic research. He regularly presents his paintings and installations in France, Belgium and Italy.
