Rémy Badan
Biography
Swiss-born Rémy Badan bought his first camera -a Hasselblad he still uses - at the age of 14. He was trained as a professional photographer at Vevey's School of Photography and worked at the same time at a local photographer's where he was assigned to ID shots. This experience only encouraged him to break the rules. At 19, Badan took an initiatory journey to China on his own. He came back with hundreds of pictures.
Early nineties, time to take a chance in Paris. Badan tried his hand at video and worked as a photo studio assistant. Over the years, he got acquainted with sets' every savoir-faire -from electrician to assistant producer- and in 2003, he founded Pixies Production which he still runs today. He has collaborated with prestigious film makers and photographers such as Paolo Roversi, Raymond Depardon, Peter Lindbergh, Patrick Guedj, Olivier Marchal, Tony Kaye, Jérôme Salle...
Rémy Badan has never stopped shooting since he first held a camera, though for 15 years he has kept thousands of negatives undeveloped. His pictures, tinged with finesse and melancholy, show his fascination for both movement and stillness. An invitation to a dream.
