Biography
Born in 1952, Jean-Michel Mefort is a painter who graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in Angers. He quickly distinguished himself by winning the Young Painting Prize at the Salon des Lices in Angers as well as the Young Painting Prize at the Baugé international biennial.
Jean-Michel Mefort used his domestic environment as a model for his compositions. Over time, his house became the scene of a strange production: unusual trinkets, paper mannequins, miniature castles and everyday objects coming to life to perform a silent comedy.
These scenes captured by the artist are objects of fascination. They invite us first to contemplation and tranquility. Then, they reveal their mysteries: the secret life that inhabits them. Then a dull vitality emanates from each object and delights the beholder.
The work of Jean-Michel Mefort was supported by the Galerie Alain Blondel which carried out a commission as part of a personal exhibition. The paintings we have selected are part of this.
Naturally modest and discreet, Jean-Michel Mefort spent most of his life in Arzano in Finistère and remains unknown to the general public.
