Biography
Diego Barros is a self-taught Brazilian visual artist born in 1986 who lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. Diego is known for his multidisciplinary approach and diverse use of materials. He creates his works using acrylic and oil paints, aerosols and constructs his own canvases, often incorporating elements found in city dumps.
Barros' work also includes electronics, semi-precious stones, and junkyard items. Inspired by a childhood fascination with art and a passion for space, his creations explore the mysteries of the universe. Influenced by his parents' stories of a possible abduction in the 1980s, Barros delves into existential questions through his unique fusion of elements, inviting viewers to reflect on the human condition. With an innovative spirit, he continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art, providing an engaging and stimulating experience. Despite the personal setbacks caused by the expropriations due to the extraction of salt in his hometown, Diego lost his house and his two studios.
Today, Diego's journey of resilience fuels his passion for creating meaningful and transformative art, showing that humanity belongs to something greater and beyond the Kármán line.
