Alain Zitouni

Alain Zitouni, a self-taught painter, combines lyrical abstraction with chimerical landscape. Born on September 27, 1963 in Castres in the south of France, he embodies the sum of his experiences since a complex childhood.

They forced him to become independent at a very young age. The trials of life pushed him to question the purpose of existence and its enigmas, God, Death, Good, Evil, all the worlds of mystery. A spiritual quest completes the forging of his personality.

He will not cease to seek to nourish his soul with the masters (astrology, Zen Buddhism, meditation...) by involving his body through years of practice of Tai Chi.

The artist will extend his quest by expressing himself also in music: guitar, writing, singing... Since a few years, in complicity with his companion, "inspiring muse", he crosses the line and allows himself to give free rein to his inspiration, "his painting is born".

The anguish of the edge of the abyss that the white canvas represents questions him and the interior work is externalized. The emptiness of his mind imposes itself on the canvas and his world pours out in a thousand colored shades. It is the contrasting interface between matter and spirit that reveals itself.

His style invites to travel, it takes the observer to the very edge of the canvas. The journey is completed when the person challenged lives the emotion by projecting in the forms and colors his own vision of escape. The image is built, named. "There are as many universes as there are observers.
