Biography
Nathalie Montel has a degree in visual arts from Panthéon Sorbonne University (Paris1).
The background is first worked with tissue paper placed in certain places to subtly bring in the material. Then comes the work of color, applied freely. Without constraint, the paint spots multiply and overlap in an abstract way. Brushes and knives mix and little by little in the material the subject will appear, enhanced and outlined with black stone.
In painting we have often opposed the colorist to the designer, in her paintings she wants to reconcile color and drawing, so that both are present at the same time. Color through harmonies, material, juxtaposition, touch...
Drawing through graphics, hatching, line, liveliness of line…
His subjects are born from an encounter, from an emotion. It can be a harmony of colors in a bouquet, an attitude or movement in a character, the innocence of childhood, a feeling in front of a landscape. Women are a recurring theme that his painting strives to highlight and magnify.
His painting is fundamentally joyful and lively, imbued with hope and positivity. These are moments of life, little everyday joys where love, color and light propel us into an optimistic universe. Like a breath of fresh air, an escape, a dream escape into reality, she paints life and the poetry that results from it.
A figurative painting freed from the constraints of reality.
