Biography
Georgik was born in Switzerland in 1957. He works mainly in France. He moved to Paris for his studies in the '70s. At the time, Georgik created "mecanographic drawings" with a typewritter and made his first grids with an ironing machine on carbon paper.
Between 1978 and 1979 Georgik lived in New York and studied illustration at the Parsons School for Design. When he moved back to France, he set up a technique to create images with a computer and a plotter. In 1996, Georgik's works are exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
After 2000, Georgik started to paint using oil and watercolor. He uses complex techniques that consist of superimposing layers of transparent paper on canvas, covering part of the image. Georgik's work is difficult to label in the context of contemporary art. Between painting, comics and art brut, his work explores motifs that seem to have been hidden for a long time.
