Presentation
Born in Khanaqin between Iranian Kurdistan and Iraqi Kurdistan.
Steeped in culture and the exile experience that has left its mark, Ramzi Ghotbaldin found his language from a synthesis that today makes him among the preeminent painters of his generation. Wandering remains at the heart of his world—his work is marked by the seal of the mystery of the origins and characters of that world, embedded in a dreamlike darkness. No known element allows us to identify the nature of some his scenes. His work evolves in that dark and mysterious.
Mysterious in its simplicity, Ramzi's work transports us out of time, within a universe unrelated to everyday life. He is a practitioner trained in the most diverse techniques, giving free rein to an imagination running all the better as it moves away from a meticulous description by focusing on the light the pattern of shapes, enveloping the witness while giving the composition a disturbing density. The beauty of contents renews the range of a message that Ramzi Ghotbaldin aims to be universal. "
