Alison Martinenq
Biography
Alison Martinenq is from Scotland and attended evening classes at the Edinburgh School of Art during her student years. She now lives in the south of France.
Essentially self-taught, she took part in workshops led by the American painter Charlotte Novitz and started painting full-time in 2010 after a career in teaching. She is interested in exploring the way the artist, abandoning a literal representation of reality relies on memory and imagination. Since 2021 she has been researching a new technique, cold wax painting: oil paint and /or pigments mixed with a cold wax medium. She has exhibited regularly in France since 2013 and belongs to the artists' collective Espace361° based in Aix-en-Provence.
